I’ve been in Denver for over a week now, which has meant lots of conversations with Democrats who believe that anyone who disagrees with them is stupid, evil, or most likely both. Contrarian that I am, this has me standing up for McCain with disconcerting frequency. Then I’m reminded that disparaging basic civil liberties is now a sure-fire applause line for the GOP and am struck once again by how thoroughly screwed we are in this election.
